2012 Shiraz

The 2012 MOOMBAKI Shiraz is sourced entirely from Denmark estate grown fruit. The dry grown low-yielding vines are cane pruned and carefully managed throughout the season, producing exceptional parcels of delicious, hand-picked fruit. Matured for 24 months in premium French oak barriques and bottled using minimal filtration.
A lovely, rich palate and fine tannins will allow this wine to improve over the next 10 to 15 years.

Tasting notes from winemaker James Kellie.

Appearance

A deep inky purple.

Aroma

Vibrant aromas of leafy blackberry, violets and white pepper complemented spicy, toasted French oak.

Cellaring

This wine has the balance and structure to improve with careful cellaring over the next 10 – 15 years.

HALLIDAY 2015 Wine Companion – 95 points. Cellar to 2026

Not a big wine by any stretch but the proportions are excellent. It’s like the difference between standard house design and architectural: most things are effectively the same but somehow everything seems to fit/function better. Black cherry, peppercorn, slips of smoky oak, aged spicy meats. Refreshing acidity and savoury tannin. It just all works.
