Great Southern Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec

Hand-picked from the pure gravelly soils of our north-facing vineyard, the 2021 Reserve is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Malbec.

Floral spice, with deliciously intense dark fruit aromas are balanced by a bright cool-climate palate of cassis, mulberry and plum with lingering, velvety tannins.

Selected from the very best barriques from the exceptional 2021 vintage, this reserve was matured for 10 months in premium French oak barriques under the careful guidance of winemakers Liam Carmody and Guy Lyons.

This wine will continue to improve and impress over the next 10 – 15 years.

Tasting notes

Appearance

A dense inky purple.

Aroma

Rich aromas of leafy blackberry, mocha and aniseed complemented by spicy, toasted French oak.

Palate

Initial flavours of black cherry and blackcurrant lead to a rich complex mid palate of licorice and redcurrant finishing with long fine tannins and the toasty spice and vanilla of premium French oak barriques.

Cellaring

This wine has the balance and structure to improve with careful cellaring over the next twenty years.
