2015 Shiraz

The 2015 Shiraz is produced from select parcels of delicious Denmark (55%) and Frankland River (45%) fruit. Initial flavours of black cherry and recurrent lead to a complex mid-palate of mocha and plum finishing with fine long tannins and the toasty spice and vanilla of 24 months maturing in premium French oak barriques.

This wine will improve with careful cellaring over the next 10 to 15 years.

Appearance

A dense inky purple.

Aroma

Vibrant aromas of cherry, blackberry, violets and white pepper complemented by hints of liquorice and spicy, toasted French oak.

Palate

Initial flavours of black cherry and redcurrant lead to a richer complex mid-palate of mocha and plum finishing with fine long tannins and the toasty spice and vanilla of premium French oak barriques.

Cellaring

This wine has the balance and structure to improve with careful cellaring over the next 10 – 15 years.

Not a big wine by any stretch but the proportions are excellent. It’s like the difference between standard house design and architectural: most things are effectively the same but somehow everything seems to fit/function better. Black cherry, peppercorn, slips of smoky oak, aged spicy meats. Refreshing acidity and savoury tannin. It just all works.
