vineyard-nets

We were fortunate to have enough of a cool change last week to aid putting the nets on the reds, following signs of véraison (colouring to shades of red), which makes the birds think the grapes might be getting ripe and ready to eat.

Having the vineyard fully netted means we don’t need to worry about the birds turning our fruit into pincushions, or concern ourselves with what would be the resulting disease pressures (rot, botrytis). So that means no sprays (or residue) on the vineyard, cleaner fruit and delicious flavours.

Since being a MOOMBAKI drinker I am often disappointed to find a headache awaits me the next morning following consumption (not loads, honest) of other wines. I think I sometimes take for granted just how good that fruit is, and what sets us apart.
